  17. <p>    THING was stressed out. The beloved pet hand of the Addams
  18. family was flailing around, struggling to speak with household
  19. patriarch Gomez in sign language. "Slow down, it's terrible when
  20. you stutter," quipped Gomez. When Paramount used this scene from
  21. last year's flick in a commercial to promote this week's
  22. home-video release, a stutterers' organization fired off a
  23. complaint. "This is no joke to people who have this problem,"
  24. said Ira Zimmerman. "It doesn't help to say, `Slow down.' It
  25. only makes us more nervous." Apparently, that's how Paramount
  26. felt too. The home-video division apologized -- and dropped the
  27. ad.
